KNOWLEDGE: The realization of basic truths about people and things
1. The Bible is God’s word, and it is helpful (2 Tim 3:16).
The Bible says it is from God, over 1,000 times. Search a free digital King James Version Bible for phrases like “saith the Lord” and “the Lord said.” The books in the New Testament were written by, or with, people who experienced Jesus. We are sanctified in truth, God’s word is truth (Jn 17:17). God’s wrath is against those who suppress the truth (Ro 1:18).
2. God created the universe, with his words (Gen 1).
Science claims the universe is still expanding, or growing, which means if we go back in time it had a starting point. Science done well reveals God’s natural laws. God is over all and in all (Eph 4:6). Consider the quantum physics theories of decoherence, unpredictability, tunneling, and entanglement, that seem to provide evidence of a spiritual world. Consider the beautiful Hubble telescope photos of the universe. The heavens declare God’s work (Ps 19:1).
3. God created humans, in his image (Gen 1:27).
God made humans as a spirit, with a soul, in a body (1 Thess 5:23), with a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7). God made humans from dust of the earth (Gen 2:7), and gave them free will (Gen 1:28). Human bodies are about 95 percent oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen, and the rest are trace elements. It is illogical that male and female organisms, that need each other to reproduce, evolved from a simple, single cell, self-replicating organism, for survival.
UNDERSTANDING: The realization of how and why people and things interact
4. Your heart holds the issues of life, guard it (Pro 4:23).
The heart is deceitful (Jer 17:9). Don’t believe every spirit, test them (1 Jn 4:1). God can give us a new heart and spirit (Ez 36:26). Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God (Mt 5:8). The Lord looks not at appearance but looks in the heart (1 Sam 16:7). We are not our emotions or thoughts, we are what we do with them (2 Tim 1:7 and 2 Cor 10:5).
5. Your mind has the power to transform you, renew it (Ro 12:2).
Set your mind on things above (Col 3:2). Think about important topics like whatever is true, honorable, just, and excellent (Php 4:8). Forget what lies behind, think on what lies ahead (Php 3:13). Be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger (Jas 1:19). Being slow to anger gives understanding (Pro 14:29). Be wise and innocent (Mt 10:16).
6. Your words have the power of death and life, choose them carefully (Pro 18:21).
A soft answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs it up (Pro 15:1). Speak the truth in love (Eph 4:15). The sword of the Spirit is the word of God (Eph 6:17). The tongue is small but has great power (Jas 3:5). Words can harm or heal (Pro 12:18). Who guards their words preserves life (Pro 13:3).
WISDOM: The ability to consider probabilities and apply knowledge and understanding to make meaningful choices
7. Get wisdom and understanding, to be blessed (Pro 3:13).
Wisdom is better than wealth, and offers life, money, honor and peace (Pro 3:14-17), and is better than might (Ecc 9:16). God gives wisdom (Jas 1:5). People can provide wisdom (Pro 15:22 and 27:17). Buy truth and wisdom (Pro 23:23).
8. Let your light shine, so people see your good works, and glorify God (Mt 5:16).
God made you (Ps 139:13), for good works (Eph 2:10). Do to other people as you want them to do to you (Mt 7:12). We all have gifts to help people. Let your love be sincere. Do not be lazy, be eager in spirit and serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in challenges, and pray (Ro 12:6-12). Whatever you do, do it well, as to the Lord (Col 3:23).
9. Resist the desires of the flesh, by walking in the Spirit (Gal 5:16).
Desires of the flesh are against the spirit (Gal 5:17-23). People are naturally sinful (Ro 5:19 and Jas 4:1). The world has troubles, but Jesus overcame the world (Jn 16:33). Take thoughts captive (2 Cor 10:5). Walk in the light and fellowship with people (1 Jn 1:7). Encourage and build each other up (1 Thess 5:11). Don’t give way to the wicked (Pro 25:26).
10. Stand against evil forces, with the armor of God (Eph 6:11).
Evil spiritual forces are at work in the world (Job). They deceive (Gen 3:13 and Rev 12:9) and attempt to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus gives life (Jn 10:10). They can tempt us with doubt in our self, food, to test God, and with pride (Mt 4:3-11). The armor of God includes truth, righteousness, salvation, the Gospel, faith, and God’s word (Eph 6:13-17).
11. Have faith in God (Mk 11:22).
Faith comes by hearing God’s word (Ro 10:17). His steadfast love and faithfulness endures forever (Ps 117). By grace you are saved through faith, not work, it’s a gift from God (Eph 2:8). Jesus fulfilled the Law (Mt 5:17). Do not be anxious, but pray with thanksgiving (Php 4:6). Spoken words with faith can move mountains (Mt 21:21). For those who love God, all things work together for good (Ro 8:28). Our works reflects our faith (Jas 2:18).
12. Love God and love people (Mt 22:37-40).
We love because God first loved us (1 Jn 4:19). God loved the world and gave His only Son, for our eternal life (Jn 3:16). Love reflects grace and truth (Jn 1:17). Love is patient, kind, not envious, boastful, arrogant, rude, irritable, or resentful, and does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in truth (1 Cor 13:4-6). Love earnestly, as love covers sins (1 Pt 4:8).
